Kris Olson suggested that area birders would be interested in the PYGMY
NUTHATCHES nesting in the palm tree directly in front of 303 Laurel Ave., Menlo
Park, close to Pope St.
The best view is from the other side of Laurel, directly across from
the tree. On Sat. 14 May, Curtis and I first observed a pair taking nesting
materials to their hole, which is the hole at 7 o'clock from a second hole
very close by (there are many holes in this palm!).
The nuthatches' palm is immediately west of this year's BARN OWL nest
palm.
Good birding,
Tate Snyder
