Hello,
I'm not the most expert of birdwatchers, but at around 7AM, walking on the
road continuing past the gate at the end of Motebellow Road, I saw an
immense bird perched on top of a power line pole at the antenna staion
about 0.5 mile up the road. It was basically as tall as the transformer
beneath it. As I approached, it flew while being harrassed by what I think
was a red-tail in a light phase. It flew east down the slope. The dihedral
was NOT that of a golden eagle although I am mindful of the eagle sightings
reported last week in the Los Altos Hills. It seemed to show the "fingers"
at the wingtips. I had no binoculars and I realize this may be unlikely,
but I recall a condor sighting a year or so ago in this area.
