[SBB] Palo Alto baylands...

I went out sparrowwing at the baylands today (about 90 minutes ending
at noon when I had to head to a job interview), intending to work the
fennel again without quite the time constraint. As it turned out, the
picnic area was quite busy and I spent most of my time in there.
Highlights included two Common Yellowthroat males. a couple of
california towhees, a chestnut-backed chickadee, a warbler that could
have been Tom's orange-crowned warbler, but I didn't get a good
enough look to be definitive, a northern mockingbird, one song
sparrow, and any number of white-crowned, both youngsters and some
with black stripes. Oh, and the fun bird of the day, a bewick's wren.

Out in the fennel it was quieter, but I did get great looks at a
yellow-rumped and a yellow warbler, a probable female common
yellowthroat, one more song sparrow (by sound) and a bunch more not-
terribly-cooperative white-crowned. Lots of chipping and singing, not
much popping into visibility (but I think I have white-crowned
memorized now...).

Overall numbers: 1 each of the yellow-rumped and yellow and wren and
mockingbird, at least two and possibly three individual male common
yellowthroats, two song sparrows and at least 25 white-crowned
individuals (at one point, I had five in one tree at the same time),
although I really think the number was higher. And a fair number of
little brown blobs I never got a good enough look at.
