A late morning walk from Black Road to Lake Ranch on Sunday found the
lake frozen over with one teardrop area of water about 20 feet wide
packed with coots, Ring-necked Ducks and Pie-Billed Grebes.
Three Great Blue Herons and four Great Egrets were in the trees
around the frozen lake. All left flapping straight upwards then west
as a private helicopter thack-atta-thwacked low over the lake.
Also seen was a Varied Thrush.
