All,
This morning Frank Vanslager and I first checkout the CCFS "Waterbird Pond"
which contrary to recent information IS STILL DRY! Some
work has been done across the road from the pond removing a bridge to nowhere,
but water was not going into the pond at high tide [when water used to enter the
pond]. I various areas along Coyote Creek we had 3-4 YELLOW
WARBLERS, a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER and a BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER, a couple
WESTERN FLYCATCHERS, a couple CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES and a couple
BEWICK'S WRENS [pretty sloooow birding]. We then went to New Chicago Marsh
where in a half mile search up the RR tracks we failed to relocate the Ruffs {we
did have several RED-NECKED PHALAROPES and at least one WILSON'S
PHALAROPE]. We then went to EEC boardwalk where we had one DUNLIN and
one SNOWY PLOVER with the rest of the "peeps."
Take care,
Bob Reiling
