Five intrepid birders showed up for today’s field trip.
Because of the closed trails and poor conditions found on my scouting trip on Thursday,
I opted for the paved road east of the golf course along with the paved loop in
the south part of the park. The weather cooperated with a good amount of sun
and reasonable temperatures. The air was good for scoping. We were duly rewarded
with sightings of at least 55 species. Notable birds included: ALLEN’S HUMMINGBIRD WESTERN KINGBIRD BULLOCK’S ORIOLE HOODED ORIOLE BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD HOUSE WREN NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW TREE SWALLOW MERLIN BTW I also observed a YELLOW-BILLED MAGPIE and a BULLOCK’S
ORIOLE near the dog park by Thanks for all the good spotting by today’s
participants. Al Dieckmann |
