Stefanie Arthur and I made a trip to Mines Road/San Antonio/Del Puerto
today. Despite the near perfect weather, there were few people on the
road and we didn't run into any other birders. Our sightings were
pretty similar to Bill Bousman's from Friday, but we saw at least 12
Lawrence's Goldfinches at the CDF Fire Station, mostly in the trees, but
a few were hanging out on the sign. Some of the males were singing
quite agressively - they really put on a show. Also, in the pond around
Mile 17 on San Antonio Rd., there were four pairs of Wood Ducks. Like
Bill, we had no luck with Lewis' Woodpeckers.
