All,
This morning Frank Vanslager and I had excellent scope views of the SNOW
GOOSE as it swam with CANADA GEESE in a pond on the golf course
at Shoreline. The grayish-white head and neck had a yellowish highlight
while the shape of the head and bill clearly identified it as a near adult white
Snow Goose (concave shaped bill base curved into the forehead forming a fairly
smooth transition to the fairly large square top of the head and the bill had a
huge, dark "grin patch" along the cutting edge). We first spotted the
SNGO in the weeds along the creek channel that runs between Salt Pond A1 and
Salt Pond A2W, it then flew to the golf Course where after 30 minutes or so it
flew back to the weeds along the creek channel near what looked to be Ice
Plant on the eastern edge of A1 (always in the company of at least one
CAGO).
Take care,
Bob Reiling
