Re: [SBB] SNGO at Shorline Links

Greetings Garret and Frank,

Thanks for the geese in flight picture.

Photos often tell only part of the "story", but I'm wondering why two of the dark geese show a white lower neck collar - similar to Aleutian Cackling Geese. My guess is that it was a light phenomenon.  This also put into question, whether the Snow Goose was not a Ross's, since they appear to be the same size.  Generally, however, I believe even a sub-adult Ross's Goose would not show any grayish as do many Snow Geese this time of year. The shorter, "appearing" bills on these geese I'm sure are not trustworthy, truncated by the angle of the shot - leaving the I.D., all told, up to Frank as the observer. Needless to say I also enjoyed the immaculate Anna's Hummingbird and "Audubon's" Yellow-rumped Warbler between which the geese were "sandwiched".

I saw it as it flew from Pond A2W to the golf course at 12:15pm today, along with six Canada Geese. My only photo is a distant rear view, but I'm posting it just so people can confirm the ID.

This morning, Tuesday February 21, at about 11:15 I saw a slightly immature Snow Goose in with a flock of Canada Geese, just off the southwest corner of A2W.   This is near the Burrowing Owl mound (still occupied, but getting overgrown) across from the entrance to the Shoreline Golf Course.  I also saw that the male and female Barrow's Goldeneye were still at the west end of Shoreline Lake.
