Today I took a spin through Lake Cunningham Park. The herons and egrets
are still busy on the island. The Black-crowned Night Herons are almost
all fledged. I saw a couple of late nesters incubating. The Great Egrets
are just hatching. I think 4/6 nests have chicks. I found 2 new Snowy
Egret nests. They are now incubating. A suprise to me since reports say
the P.A.Baylands SNEGS are fledging. Also in the lake was a family of
PIED-BILLED GREBES w/ 4 chicks. Many Canadian goslings around the park
as well.
In the riparian area acoross from Raging Waters main entrance I saw a
YELLOW WARBLER, a pair of WESTERN TANAGERS, a SWAINSON'S THRUSH, DOWNEY
WOODPECKER and NUTTLES WOODPECKER. In the seasonal pond near parking lot
E was a SPOTTED SANPIPER.
Cheers!
Summer Brasuel
