Hi All,
I've been watching the Williamson's Sapsucker most of the week. She's
been restless. She used to be so calm, even with a small crowd of people
around. But now every time I climb the little rise up to where her favorite
pines are, she flies off. The only day I didn't see her, there was a big party
at the picnic area (probably like what Mike described today). I've only had
good looks at her when she has relocated to the big pine just on the left as
you drive into parking lot C. I hope she'll hang around, but I suspect
maybe she's beginning to notice that
a) with the warmer weather there are many more humans around
(and they make a lot of noise) and
b) there are no male Williamson's Sapsuckers around.

P.S. That little pinto pony chasing off and pawing at the fighting Wild
Turkeys at Calero this morning was really hilarious and a sight to see!!
