I birded in Quicksilver from 7-10 am this morning. What a wonderful
time to bird, no bugs, lots of shade and a nice cool breeze walking
down the Senador trail. It was fairly good birding on Mine Hill
trail, with a nearby Ash throated Flycatcher family, lots of Wrentits
out in the open and several Huttons Vireo juveniles. I only saw one
Cal. Thrasher, but found 6 Pacific slope Flycatchers, one at the
reader board where they recently nested. Looking out from the
Guadalupe trail I spotted a pair of Black shouldered Kites fluttering
then lock talons and whirl towards the earth in a downward spiral.
The second time they landed in a Valley Oak. I saw three more
Huttons' Vireos, with more birds calling. A juv. Red tailed Hawk took
a short flight along the rim. Adult Red tailed and Red shouldered
Hawk were seen also.

The Hooded Orioles have fledge from backyard neighbors palm and are
emptying my Oriole feeder every other day. I heard two newly fledge
Red shouldered Hawks just moments ago. They nested nearby but I never
found the nest. The Vaux's Swift pair are seen occasionally now. More
Band tailed Pigeons are coming to the yard with juveniles.
****************
Monday evening an adult Osprey flew along the Alamitos Creek trail
and perched on a snag attracting attention from walkers.
