Folks:
This morning, 9/26/07, I birded the north side of Lake Cunningham,
making a CCW loop from parking lot C. An imm. BROWN PELICAN was with
the local Am. White Pelicans on the little island. At least two
SPOTTED SANDPIPERS were working the shoreline. Migrants included 2
"WESTERN" FLYCATCHERS, 2 ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, 16 YELLOW WARBLERS,
3 WILSON'S WARBLERS, and 2 WESTERN TANAGERS.
I stopped by New Chicago Marsh and with others admired a juvenile
male RUFF on the south side of the EEC entrance road (Pete
LaTourrette writes that he saw 2 Ruffs there yesterday). There were
at least 3 LESSER YELLOWLEGS as well. A PEREGRINE FALCON was on one
of the towers (and was once displaced by a red-tail). I walked out
to Salt Pond A16 and saw the male and female BLACK SKIMMER on island
#1 along with 2 healthy looking fledglings (I did not see them fly,
they should have fledged in the past week).
