Around noon today in Alviso I saw the ruff along the EEC entrance road, thanks to Bill Bousman. Two barn owls were in the box, and a golden eagle was soaring with the white pelicans. When I was leaving the parking lot, I learned that the parasitic jaeger had been seen again, so after an In and Out burger I hoisted my scope and headed on out.
I met a chap coming in who reported the brown booby on the 11/12 levee, and sure enough, it was in with the cormorants. I continued on to the 10/11 levee and camped out there for almost two hours. No jaeger. Now I know why, after reading Randy Little's post. Oh well, the exercise was good and it was an absolutely perfect day. While at the 10/11 levee, the booby flew in from the direction of A12, left and returned again just before I left at 4. Much better looks than the first night, Bob. Nothing else of note out there today.
