Re: [SBB] Brown (not Blue-footed) Booby in Alviso

 All,
	I just returned from watching the booby with Mike Mammoser.  He
found it perched on the levee between A10 and A11, and it was there when
I left around 5:50pm.  It's a Brown Booby, with dark brown head, neck,
chest, back and wings.  There is a clean demarcation between the brown
chest and white belly.  Legs and bill look dull yellowish green.
	When I first walked up to the first dike (between A11 and A12)
the SFBBO folks had seen it diving at quite a distance in A11(?), but
then we couldn't refind it after approaching the next dike.  Hence it
would have been difficult to id at that distance.
	Also on A11 were 2 Common Loons (one first spotted in flight by
SFBBO folks which we watched land by a second bird) and 1 Common Tern
found by Mike M as we were starting the walk back.

	Great bird!

A Blue-footed Booby has been spotted in the Alviso ponds. This was
reported to the Bird Observatory by Clyde Morris, south bay refuge
manager, but I don't know who actually found the bird.

I just got a cell call from some of our staff that they can see the bird
diving out on ponds 10 and 11.  After parking at the county marina, head
out on the trail and turn left along the first pond, which is A12. It's
quite a ways to the next pond - you might want to take a bike!
