[SBB] Ferruginous Hawk (Dark morph; photos), Bailey Ave.

Hi all:

The morning started with a lifer! well, a life-morph.
Dark-morph Ferruginous Hawk. Presumably? the same
bird Mike Mammoser reported a couple of days ago. I'm
assuming this is a different bird from Dave Weber's
Ferruginous Hawk, and that both hawks that Mike
reported have remained in Coyote Valley. Seen
extensively from 7:45--8:15 in the morning and from
3:30 -- 4:30 in the afternoon, this hawk was perched
in one of the sprawling oaks just west of the IBM
facility, on the south side of Bailey Ave in Coyote
Valley.
Grainy photes can be seen here:

The extensive silver edging to the primaries make it
appear to be an adult, but the faint banding in the
tail has me wondering. Comments welcome.

6 Cackling geese flew in with 30 Cananda Geese from
the direction of Calero. Again, on the south side of
Bailey, just west of the IBM Facility.

Earlier in the day our Palo Alto Adult School class
had a Common Loon in the first pond on the right as
you enter the Ogier Pond area. The two ponds closest
to the entry road and just north of the airfield held
46 Ring-necked Ducks.

A large percentage of us did our best Bittern call in
unison, which was unsuccessful.

Good birding,
