I tried later in the morning for the Sabine's Gull (which Roland kenner
saw earlier), but didn't find it. (It might still have been farther west
along the north edge of A13, where viewing was getting harder.) There
was no shortage of Eared Grebes here -- well over 300.
On a brief visit to the EEC, I saw an Osprey along Mallard Slough. If
I recall correctly, one spent a few weeks here late fall last year.
Finally, at the Sunnyvale Water Polluction Control Plant, I counted
97 Bonaparte's Gulls; there were likely others more distant or obscured.
A few Brown Pelicans were also around. On my way out a Sora was heard
calling from the marsh, and an adult Peregrine Falcon was on a transmission
tower. I didn't have time to check out most of the ducks.
