[SBB] Eider-like duck at Shoreline

Hello,
While golfing at Shoreline today there was a duck that had a beak  
shape very much like an Eider. If it is an Eider, it is either a  
female or immature male, dark color with lots of mottling. The duck  
was on the shore of the lake next to the cart path between Hole #11  
and 12. From the way it was walking, it looked like it was either  
sick or very weary. I don't think it was the loon that others have  
posted but I could be wrong. And it was much heftier looking than a  
scoter. Has anyone else seen this duck?
