[SBB] Blue-winged Teal pair at Lockheed ponds

This morning there was a pair of Blue-winged Teal resting on the long
narrow island of the first (easternmost) Lockheed pond where the
Canada Geese have been hanging out. This row of ponds is located
south of the row of PG&E towers and west of the grassy closed-landfill
hill at the edge of the Sunnyvale WPCP. A white-throated swift was
still feeding on the grassy hill with the swallows yesterday
afternoon, but I didn't see it today. I didn't find the Great-tailed
Grackle reported by Mike Rogers yesterday, but enjoyed seeing all the
little colorful young Moorhens, Coots, and striped Pied-billed Grebes
carefully tended by their parents. A green heron was working the
channel directly north of the old landfill hill, staying within a
hundred yards of the pump enclosure.
Good birding,
Donna Heim
