All: This morning, Thursday May 10 at 10:30, I'd walked out to the mouth of Steven's Creek. On the shorter of the two power-towers that are closest to the river mouth (to the southeast, in pond B1), is a Peregrine Falcon nest with 2 chicks. The adult PEFA was very aggressive. It made a very determined chase after another high-flying falcon. Then it made a grab at a close-flying Canada Goose. Then it made a direct flight at me! But it pulled up to circle overhead, and fly back to the tower. One of the chicks appears old-enough to leave the nest. The other appeared younger, although it didn't stand up enough for me to get a good look. Frank Vanslager See what's free at AOL.com. |
