Re: [SBB] Cattle Egrets in Alviso

I saw the 2 Cattle Egrets here (JCC) around noon today, along with 2 Burrowing Owls (1 flying and perching on a post) and 3 Western Kingbirds.

A short stop at the EEC produced 1 Burrowing Owl, no Barn Owls (though the box seemed to have something at the bottom…. Just not defined enough to say it was even a bird), Semipalmated Plovers, Western Sandpipers, 1 Least Sandpiper, Long-billed Dowitchers, 1 Yellow rumped Warbler in the butterfly garden, 1 bright yellow warbler in the garden (never seen again though I heard a Common Yellowthroat later), adult Rabbit [type?] and 4 frozen-still young (babies had white around their eyes or on their face), swallows (tree, cliff, barn), Bullock’s Orioles, etc.

Subject: [SBB] Cattle Egrets in Alviso

Hi Birders-

Had to go to a mandatory one hour meeting at work this afternoon on my day off. Grumble. So I checked some places on the way in. At Arzino Ranch in Alviso there were two Cattle Egrets. Ungrumble. They were about as far away as possible from the JCC parking lot. Heat waves and wind did not help the view through a scope. A little later, at Shoreline Park in Mtn View, the Brandt was still on the lawn on the NE side of the lake. Fewer Canada Geese were there than last week and no sign of the Aleutian Goose.
