Hi all:
On Friday a.m. i stopped at the pond at the east end
of Oconnor in East Palo Alto. 10 Wilson's Snipes were
tightly huddled on the northwest shoreline and 1
Wilson's Snipe was at the Northeast corner.
On Saturday, a group of us, led by Bob Hirt and
Matthew Dodder had Wood Ducks in the trees along the
north edge of the trail along Stevens Creek, at
McClellan Ranch Park. One female Wood Duck was seen
entering a nest cavity. Promising activity.
Saturday afternoon i had two Burrowing Owls in the
mound 50 yards north of the railroad tracks, at the
entrance to the EEC in Alviso.
At Ed Levin Park, the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
continued in the Tamarisk trees just east of the
Spring Valley picnic area entry road. A Western
Kingbird called once, but my attention was on the
Sapsucker, and when I went to find the Kingbird, the
Kingbird did not want to be found.
Good birding,
Bob Power
Oakland, CA
