Hi Birders-
I stopped by Sunnyvale WPCP this evening after
work. No problem finding the Franklin's Gull, as it was one of the few gulls
actively feeding in the channel between the two ponds at 6:30pm. It was
feeding like a storm-petrel, practically walking on water. It would walk
its way upwind for a while then lift off and soar downwind to start over, all
the while providing great views from just yards away. Mike Danzenbaker came by
after a while and hopefully got some good pics. On the way home a Peregrine
Falcon flew over the First St-237 overpass apparently going after some
blackbirds. In Alviso, at Arzino Ranch, no Cattle Egrets were seen, but I did
stop by yesterday after work when two Cattle Egrets were right next to the JCC
parking lot.
Dave Weber,
Milpitas.
