[SBB] Bald Eagle (8:40AM), Common Loon

Title: Bald Eagle (8:40AM), Common Loon

Sunday 1/21/07 from 8:20AM till 8:40AM, when I left, the adult BALD EAGLE was in the southwest corner of Calero Reservoir.

Note to those who may not be familiar with this bird/site. With binocs from the boat ramp, its no more than a white speck (or two, if the tail is visible), if its in the cove

in the southwest corner. You really need a scope to get the shape of the bird. With the scope though, I watched as it sat on a tree on the north side of the cove,

dumped its ballast twice, took off, lunged at AMERICAN COOTs in the water and then perced on a tree on the south side.

Also at Calero, a CLARKs GREBE and a SPOTTED SANDPIPER.

The COMMON LOON in the pond in the southeast corner of Almaden Expy and Hwy 85 was easily seen from Almaden Expy and also by peering over the wall of the apt complex on Foxchase Drive.

Almaden Lake had dozens of CEDAR WAXWINGs feeding on Peppter Tree berries and others, letting me burn a lot of pixels on them.
