The pond at Monte Bello OSP's gate 5 was 3/4 frozen
over this morning 1/16/2007 at sunrise. A sizeable group of Lawrence's
Goldfinches was still present but left as the sun rose, down-valley as usual.
Six Hooded Mergansers, three AM. Coots, and 3 Pied-billed Grebes crowded into
the remaining open water.
