All,
First thing this morning, from the boat ramp in Calero
Reservoir, Frank Vanslager and I saw an adult BALD EAGLE in the top of a
tree on a hill in the northwestern portion of the reservoir. We then
tried for a Ferruginous Hawk off of Santa Teresa Blvd/Hale Ave south of Bailey
Ave (missed :-(. Later in the Gilroy Water Treatment Facility we had a
juvenile white SNOW GOOSE and two adult MUTE SWANS with the CANADA
GEESE in one of the ponds in the northwestern section of the facility.
There were lots of WILSON'S SNIPE with perhaps 60 - 70 in one pond on
the east side of LLAGAS CREEK. This same pond also had large numbers of
AMERICAN PIPITS and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. As usual we also had a good
variety of ducks (but dipped on the Blue-winged teal), had lots of MEW
GULLS, a few RING-BILLED GULLS, and several LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE. A
quick stop at the Coyote Creek Golf Course failed to yield anything of
note.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
