I went to Alviso today, 15 Jan 07, where the Ruff disappointed me once again. A MERLIN was perched on a tree along the slough adjacent to the entrance road to the EEC. I estimated 180 TREE SWALLOWS foraging low over the water of pond A16. No unusual gulls today.
I then headed for Alum Rock Park, where I dipped on the Dipper. However, a WINTER WREN was along the creek upstream of the old bridge. Also interesting was 450+ AMERICAN ROBINS in the vicinity of the bridge.
I headed across the valley to Stevens Creek Park, where I was able to find an AMERICAN DIPPER along Stevens Creek, near the second bridge above the Mt Eden Rd stop sign.
