Hi Birders-
Found myself in Palo Alto Baylands late this afternoon. As with a few days ago a Clapper Rail was wandering the muddy banks near the parking lot to the Interpretive Center. With recent good luck with Short-eared Owls I went to Byxbee Park at 3:45. I was checking through a scope a Red-tailed Hawk perched on a pole out in the marsh when it was dived on by a Short-eared Owl! The owl flew near, almost reaching the channel at the base of the landfill, providing excellent in-flight views. Later in Alviso, two Snow Geese were on the W side of Zanker Rd in a large flock of Canada Geese.
