Unlike Al, I found many geese at Shoreline Park this afternoon. The
BRANDT was at the Kite Flying Area and 2 SNOW GEESE were with a group
of Canada Geese on the slope overlooking the Steven's Creek Overflow
Pond.
One PELAGIC CORMORANT was perched on the crumbling catwalk in Pond A2W.
12 BROWN PELICANS were lounging on the catwalk used by the Least Terns
in Pond A2E, and there were 2 HORNED GREBES in this pond also.
I found a HOUSE WREN in the Steven's Creek Overflow Pond.
2 female PEREGRINE FALCONS were having a catfight in the Kite Flying
Area at Shoreline this morning. One was sitting on the ground and the
other was dive bombing. The one on the ground would do backflips in
order to present her talons to the one doing the dive bombing - very
dramatic. This happened five times before the one on the ground finally
took off and they continued tussling in the air for a bit.
High tide was not very high this morning, but 1 CLAPPER RAIL was giving
heart stopping views at the end of the boardwalk - so close I could not
get my binoculars to focus.
