[SBB] Today at Baylands and Geng Rd, Palo Alto

This morning at Baylands, high tide, boardwalk out from nature center:  1 Clapper Rail working its way towards and then under and out the boardwalk and to the Bay’s edge, giving wonderful views as it was in the open much of the time. Great views of a Marsh Wren in the same area.  One of my friends is sure she saw the previously-reported Eurasian Wigeon at Baylands early this morning (she’s still a bit of a beginner, but she worked hard to sort this one out from the American Wigeon).

Geng Road, our next stop: on the pond were 1 female Hooded Merganser, 1 female Bufflehead, the 3 White-fronted Geese (Greater, I believe they have been reported as), 1 Green Heron and 2 Black-crowned Night Herons, as well as some of the other usual suspects such as the coterie of coots.

It was nice to see hummingbirds buzzing about today – I seem to have been hiking and birding for the past week or two in places where they aren’t.
