This afternoon Kay Partelow and I checked out SCP. We parked at the
lot past the visitors' center. We were examining some fallen bark
that appeared to have sapsucker "dents"--marks not all the way
through--and the bay tree with sapsucker holes, when a Red-breasted
Sapsucker flew in. A Townsend's Warbler was also sipping the sap from
the holes. A Varied Thrush showed itself, but not much else besides
Ruby-crowned Kinglets and American Robins.
Later at McClellan, a Lincoln's Sparrow shared foraging space with
Golden-crowned Sparrows in the 4h garden, as did Western Bluebirds
with a Black Phoebe.
