[SBB] It was a Five Bald Eagle day

I am of the era where I was not sure if Bald Eagles would be around when I got older.  So it was an exciting day today to lead a trip through several of our Santa Clara County reservoirs and find 5 different Bald Eagles along the way.

Calero Reservoir provided adult BALD EAGLE number one at 9:30 AM

Chesbro Reservoir provided an OSPREY, WOOD DUCKS and several shorebirds.....

Coyote Lake provided several memorable observations.  We started at the south end of the lake and searched through a mixed flock at the Lakeview Picnic Area.  It was here we simply pivoted to find several VARIED THRUSH, a few HERMIT THRUSH, ROBINS, many RED SHAFTED FLICKERS, an adult male, WHITE THROATED SPARROW, BEWICK'S WREN, BUSHTITS, TITMICE, and a displaying RUBY CROWNED KINGLET, just to name a few.

We continued along the lake and stopped for lunch at one of the picnic areas where we had two more adult BALD EAGLES around 12:15 PM.  While eating they circled above and were joined by three GOLDEN EAGLES.  With them over the lake were WHITE THROATED SWIFTS and swallows in the hundreds.  Most were TREE SWALLOWS but we found many VIOLET GREEN SWALLOWS within the flock.  In the lake we found a large flock of COMMON MERGANSERS.

We drove to the north end of Coyote Lake and watched an immature BALD EAGLE fly over the water to our right.  Once at the dam we found a ROCK WREN on the dam and WOOD DUCKS on the opposite side.

We headed back to the bay area via Anderson Reservoir's south end where at 3:00 PM our 5th BALD EAGLE of the day flew over head, circled and headed back north up the reservoir.
There was little activity in the water here as a single EARED GREBE fed and a few people fished in the rain.

It was a bit wet, but it was a great day to see eagles!
