Figuring that it was time for Allen's Hummingbirds to be back, I headed up to Ed Levin Park over lunch today 2/14/07. Sure enough, near the parking lot by the northeast edge of Sandy Wool Lake was an adult male ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRD, apparently defending the same territory as in past years, although being a bit more subtle than usual and frequently hiding in the canopy of an oak. There were also 10+ TREE SWALLOWS over Sandy Wool Lake.
