Hi Birders-
Been watching the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in the tamarisks at Ed Levin Park for the last two days. It has displayed behaviors I haven't seen before. Yesterday at noon, it was difficult to locate. It responded for the first time to pishing. Later between heavy rains, it was calling and responding to at least two Red-breasted Sapsuckers in other trees. Today in late afternoon it actually sat still in full view for at least five minutes! The bird has now been there for three months. Three Wilson's Snipes were in the damp pasture beyond the corral. Two Great-horned Owls were calling to each other from E of the Spring Valley Lake goup picnic parking lot, but I couldn't locate them.
