This Junco was observed for the 3rd time this week,
and in ample light conditions. The obvious black hood
was very apparent, as well as the pink beak.
(Sibley's Western bird book.) It seems to be less shy
than when first observed last Friday; however, it is
spooked by the slightest noise. The long tail is
conspicuous compared to the several various colored
Juncos feeding in the yard by which I was able to
compare size. It enjoyed the company of the WC and
GC, doves and quail at two different ground feeding
areas.
I'll be happy to be available for serious birders who
might 'chance' seeing the bird on Sat. (feeding time
for birds about 4pm), from 3:45 to 4:30 pm. The birds
begin to gather around 3:30.
