Hi Birders-
First stopped in Alviso this morning where there
wasn't much of note except for a Yellow Warbler at the EEC. Then I went to Ed
Levin Park. At the Spring Valley area between the flagpole and the group picnic
area there was a very large flock of House Finches foraging. Among them were two
spizella-type sparrows. They looked like a juvenile Chipping and winter adult
Clay-colored. Eventually they scattered. I returned a little later. Other
birders were watching the flock. The adult sparrow was relocated and it flew to
a tree over the picnic tables. We concluded it was Chipping Sparrow. The
juvenile was not seen again, but I believe it was also a Chipping. All this
around 10:30 am.
