This morning, 27 Aug 07, I checked out CCFS for
migrants, finding 1 WILLOW FLYCATCHER, 1 WESTERN
TANAGER, and 8 YELLOW WARBLERS in the eucalyptus near
the banding trailer. The waterbird pond had a group of
13 juvenile LESSER YELLOWLEGS.
Visiting the EEC butterfly garden, I had 3 YELLOW
WARBLERS.
Later in the afternoon I went to the Santa Clara
Valley Water District pond off of Almaden Expressway.
There were at least 2 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS between the
pond and the creek. A female HOODED ORIOLE was quite
agitated, finally showing a juvenile nearby to explain
it. One WILSONS WARBLER and 2 NUTMEG MANNIKINS were
in the area as well.
