Today I saw my first flock of migrating birds feeding along the
Guadalupe River Trail north of Blossom Hill Road. A Warbling Vireo,
Wilson's Warbler, and several Yellow Warblers were with a flock of
Bushtits. At least a dozen more Yellow Warblers were found after Joan
Brauch arrived. Further south another Warbling Vireo and a Pacific slope
Flycatcher were seen. Resident Nutmeg Mannikins are still paired and
attending juveniles.
This evening we saw a flock of juvenile Brown-headed Cowbirds at the
Santa Clara Valley Water District. A Spotted Sandpiper was feeding on
the spillway and a variety of herons and egrets were seen. One Vaux's
Swift flew low overhead.
