This is my first post to south-bay-birds but have been receiving
compiled dailies for a while now thanks to Tom Grey (your pics
continue to amaze me!) with whom I did the Christmas Bird Count. I
played golf at Shoreline today, Friday, and saw two pairs of
burrowing owls on the the course. One pair is in a particularly
dangerous location (could be easily run over by a golf cart). Can
someone tell me what the protocol is for the owls that decide to nest
on the course?
In addition to the burrowing owls, I saw many terns, many killdeer,
several canadian geese with babies, either a rufous or allen's
hummingbird feeding on flowers in a hanging basket next to the
clubhouse, a pied-billed grebe and two unidentified sandpipers. All-
in-all a wonderful day even if the golf was very up and down.
