[SBB] Black-throated Gray Warbler

Guadalupe Oak Grove Park was alive with birdsong this morning. I was
barely able to discern a Black-throated Gray Warbler's song over a
chorus of Yellow-rumped Warblers. The male BTGW was seen along the
wooded trail just off the parking lot. An Orange-crowned Warbler was
heard only. My FOS Western Tanager announced his presence from the top
of a Valley Oak further down the wooded trail. Nearby a Scrub Jay was
being mobbed by a pair of nesting Robins. A Downy Woodpecker was seen
entering a tree cavity. The Hutton's Vireo's loud call was constant and
may be nesting nearby. As I walked up the back trail, I spotted a male
Bullocks Oriole near a partial nest at the top of a Valley Oak Tree. A
pair of Western Bluebirds were in the same tree near their nest box.
Several White-throated Swifts and numerous Violet Green Swallows were
soaring overhead. I looked through a tree of noisy goldfinches and foun
only one Am. Goldfinch.
Wind is quickly drying the grass in the park and wildflowers are scarce
again this year.

Heard a FOS Yellow Warbler along the Guadalupe River Trail north of
Blossom Hill Rd. earlier this morning. Nearly 100 Cliff Swallows were
nest building under the freeway as five White-throated Swifts chattered
above the fray.
