Folks:
This morning, 4/3/07, I stopped by Shoreline Lake to check the
departure of wintering ducks. I counted 29 SURF SCOTERS, well down
from typical winter numbers, but still not at the usual oversummering
level. Seven COMMON GOLDENEYEs were still present, mostly
females. Unexpected for this salt water lake was a female COMMON
MERGANSER, likely a migrant passing through.
