Yesterday I went to look for the Clay-colored Sparrow at SCVWD ponds,
as described by Janna Pauser. I didn't find it, but I did see a BLACK-
THROATED GRAY WARBLER among the many YELLOW and ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLERS. It was very cooperative over at least a ten minute period
offering nice views; I actually got some videotape of it (will send
link to posted clip if anyone wishes, just email me.) This was at the
north end of the pond, halfway around if you park where Janna
described. Other birds seen included a GREAT EGRET, a GREEN HERON,
and an ACORN WOODPECKER on a snag sticking up from the pond.
