The NORTHERN PARULA was seen again at Steven's
Creek, south of L'Aveneda, yesterday (Wed) morning at about 6:50, then again
at about 7:10. Mid morning a male ORANGE BISHOP was moving around
in the grasses north of and clearly visible from the Crittenden Lane bridge.
Other notables were 5+ SAVANNAH SPARROW, a LINCOLN'S SPARROW, and an adult
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW, as well as YELLOW WARBLER, WILSON'S WARBLER, COMMON
YELLOWTHROAT, and BEWICK'S WREN. While I was home for lunch
(feeling good about the morning's birds), a male Orange
Bishop appeared at my west San Jose (Mossbrook Circle) backyard
feeder. It came to the feeder several times, and to the bird bath on the
ground, over at least a 30 minute period. It appeared to have no trouble
flying and was able feed without harassment among numerous House Sparrows
and House Finches.
