[SBB] New Ruff in New Chicago Marsh

Hi SBBers,

Early this afternoon, 09/20, I stopped at State and Spreckles in Alviso.
Shortly a departing birder came driving by and kindly stopped to tell me
that there were currenly two Ruffs in view from the uphill section of
Spreckles and that three Ruffs had been seen earlier by he and Andy. I
have now read Andy Pedler's three Ruff post and guess I was talking to
Dave Diller (sorry if I got this wrong).

I got two RUFF at 2:00, finding them sitting on a mud island and tucked in.
I searched about for the third bird with no success. Returning to the
birds in hand, I noticed plumage differences that indicated one Ruff was
probally not one of the two original juvenile Ruffs that have very black
wing feather centers with rufous/buffy edging. This non-juv looking Ruff's
wing feathers had dark, but washed out look centers with mostly dingy white
edging. It also has white around the base of the bill. A dull bird
relative to the juvenile. Finally something alerted the Ruffs and they
stood up and walked around. Neither Ruff showed any sigh of gimpyness. So
this duller, apparently older bird, seems to be the new Ruff in town. The
dull Ruff seemed very slighly larger than the juv but essentially the same
size. Both Ruffs flew into the dense pickleweed area just north of the mud
islands and went out of sight (still on the Spreckles side of the tracks)
