We have some great back-yard birding this morning!
My son called out: warblers in the backyard!!!
We went to observe, and sure enough, a flock of some 15
yellow-rumped warblers were flitting about the backyard, working the lawn,
shrubs, and trees, and visiting the birdbath. They moved
to the front yard, and were joined by white-crowned sparrows.
Now the warbler flock has returned to the back yard.
The chestnut-backed chickadees are busy at the feeder, my
son had the thrill of standing inside the window but very near
a house finch perched outside, the goldfinch is back on the
seed sock, and the yard is aflutter.
What a treat--interesting birding, coming to us.
My birder son (7-years-old) spent about 20 min observing and making
notes in his
bird journal; very excited.
happy birding!
