[SBB] Clay-colored Sparrow at PA Baylands

Hi Birders-

After a dreary morning in SM county I stopped at Palo Alto Baylands at about 11 am. Driving past the large dirt parking lot between the ranger's house and the nature center I noticed some sparrows near the fennel. I pulled in and got out. They were only a White-crowned and a House Sparrow. I wondered why I even bothered to stop since I never see anything around that fennel patch anyway. Just then, in flies a Clay-colored Sparrow from across the road! It landed 20 feet from me at the edge of the fennel at about the midway point. It was moving quickly but stayed along the edge for minute, then flew into the interior of the fennel. I was flabbergasted, a county bird! Didn't see it again despite walking around the fennel.
