[SBB] Coyote Lake County Park

Just noticed this one in "Birding in the South Bay";
so a friend and I went to check it out yesterday
(10/4).

We seemed to be the only humans in the park, which is
probably why there was so much activity. I have never
seen so many wild turkey hens in my life. Seemed to
like groups of 10 or so. Crows were flocking in the
first campground area as well. (LakeView)

The mudflats seems to be the big draw. Crows, turkey,
and wild pig! We were headed down towards the willows
when we saw two large dark shapes out in the grass/mud
(we were chasing a Lincoln's sparrow in some brush).
Eventually the sows 'blinked' and left for the willows
and were followed by 11 piglets! So we ceded them the
willows.

Birds:
earred grebe
kildeer
white crowned sp.
yellow crowned sp. (1)
great blue heron

Chestnut backed chikadee

We drove down to the spillway itself at the other end
of the park and found:
rock wren
red-shouldered hawk (flying)

coyote
song sparrow

Except for some sparrows, most of these birds were not
shy at all and presented themselves. Fun little park!
