[SBB] Stevens Creek

Today I visited the east side of Stevens Creek between Crittenden
and La Avenida, hoping to find at least one of the previously-lingering
Warblers. No luck with either. I heard a call from high on the other
rear of the creekside cottonwoods, near the Moffett housing, which was
a candidate for Black-throated Gray, but it was too muffled to be sure.
And there were no Chickadees in its area (the only one I had was heard
from inside the Moffett wall). I did flush a WILSON'S SNIPE from this
stretch of creek -- this is a species we typically get in very small
numbers (if at all) on the Palo Alto CBC. Most surprising was a
(heard-only, presumably continuing) HOUSE WREN near the lone eucalyptus.
[It would be neat if this stayed aorund for the CBC -- it has been even
rarer on the count than Wilson's or Black-throated Gray Warbler, but
any of the three would be an excellent count bird.] Also on this walk
I found about 5 HERMIT THRUSHes, and a variety of the regular species.
