[SBB] Wood Ducks and Aleutian Cackling Goose @ Bubb Rd Perc Pond

SBBers,

Yesterday ,11/12/06, around 4:30 PM at the Bubb Rd percolation pond was a female BUFFLEHEAD.  When I reached the other side of the pond I heard a familiar whistle.  I saw two pairs of WOOD DUCKs.  New arrivals flew in.  They were 3 male Wood Ducks.  I looked back at the pairs and spotted another male.  Wow!  There were a total of eight Wood Ducks.

This morning I checked to see if any of the Wood Ducks lingered.  A pair did.  Several CANADA GEESE flew in.  In among the 33 geese was an ALEUTIAN CACKLING GOOSE.  It had a white triangular patch in front at the base of its neck.  The chin strap had a pinkish cast.  Under the chin the chin strap was divided by a  dark line.  Its crown was flat and its darker brown body stood out.

The female Bufflehead was also present.
