Folks:
This morning, 4/23/06, I walked along the edge of Almaden Road beside the
Guadalupe River from Curtner to below Malone. The cottonwoods are just
starting to flower so there was very little "cotton" about. The
hummingbirds that I could see well were mostly female Anna's, but I didn't
find any nests. I saw a single male BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD, but no
females. A female _Selasphorus_ hummingbird was likely an Allen's, as they
nest nearby. A silent OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was the only migrant noted.
